I just got it in a couple days ago and I really love it. Im glad I made this purchase. After having it I've decided I'll probably go back and get this in some different colors as well. I have a habit of just tossing anything I might be carrying in my purse and with kids that might be anything lol. It is large enough to carry whatever that might be. I was a little worried that the zipper opening at the top would be small'ish and hinder you from putting stuff in and out, but it's not at all, just works great. There are a few short threads here and there that could use trimmed off but it's not bad or unraveling. There's a couple of small pockets on the inside walls of the purse. An open pocket on one side and a zipper pocket on the inside of ... full review

By this time, such movements as the Rational Dress Society (1881), with which the Morrises and Georgiana Burne-Jones were involved, were beginning to exercise some influence on women's dress, although the pre-Raphaelite look was still considered "advanced" in the late years of the 19th century.[22] Queen Victoria's precocious daughter Princess Louise, an accomplished painter and artist who mixed in bohemian circles, was sympathetic to rational dress and to the developing women's movement generally (although her rumoured pregnancy at the age of 18 was said to have been disguised by tight corsetry).[23] However, it was not really until the First World War that "many working women ... embarked on a revolution in fashion that greatly reduced the weight and restrictions imposed on them by their clothing".[24] Some women working in factories wore trousers and the brassiere (invented in 1889 by the feminist Herminie Cadolle[25] and patented in America by Mary Phelps Jacob in 1914) began gradually to supersede the corset.[26] In shipyards "trouser suits" (the term, "pantsuit" was adopted in America in the 1920s) were virtually essential to enable women to shin up and down ladders.[27] Music hall artists also helped to push the boundaries of fashion; these included Vesta Tilley, whose daring adoption on stage of well tailored male dress not only had an influence on men's attire, but also foreshadowed to an extent styles adopted by some women in the inter-war period. It was widely understood that Tilley sought additional authenticity by wearing male underclothing, although off stage she was much more conventional in both her dress and general outlook.[28]
Allégret's apparently bohemian lifestyle appealed sharply to her romantic side ... and she revelled in the Left Bank milieu to which he introduced her during script discussions in Paris. There were meals with André Gide, Jean Cocteau and the long-legged Zizi Jeanmaire. For an attractive British woman who felt deprived of attention ... this was an ideal situation for some sort of reawakening.[69]

What is this Bohemian frenzy, you ask? The craze first started around the 1950s/19060s by hippie travelers wearing visibly eclectic clothing, taking influence from every land they set their foot in. Bohemian dressing expressed the hippie free-spirited lifestyle back in the day, and then returned after a couple of decades. It has officially taken over runways, red carpets, and even bridal collections (remember Kate Moss’s rehearsal dinner dress?). Dreamcatchers, everything with pom-poms, printed dresses, mystic jewelry with a whimsical mix of rich cultures like Indian, Egyptian, Moroccan, Turkish and parts of South America – boho is everywhere. And, words like “boho-chic’ and ‘boho’ are all from the Bohemian order too.
Remember your favorite jeans circa 2004? Mine are way past the point of ever fitting me again, but a few years ago, I couldn't help but lust after the long, lean legs and perky butt that flared jeans seemed to give me! You can find high-waisted hippie versions online at at places like Urban Outfitters, but American Eagle's Artist style jeans are easy to find, inexpensive, and super comfortable.

Cardigans and sweaters are a staple for any aesthetic, but for a bohemian flair, opt for lacy-knit, somewhat see-through versions. They make great layering pieces, and are light enough to wear during the fall, winter, and spring. The other awesome thing about this item is that you can find a great version at almost any one of your favorite retailers.

By the turn of the 20th century, an increasing number of professional women, notably in America, were attempting to live outside the traditional parameters of society. Between 1870 and 1910 the marriage rate among educated women in the United States fell to 60% (30% lower than the national average), while, by 1893, in the state of Massachusetts alone, some 300,000 women were earning their own living in nearly 300 occupations. The invention of the typewriter in 1867 was a particular spur: for example, by the turn of the 20th century, 80% of stenographers were women.[21]
i've had mine for About a week. and i do love it. i use it as a crossbody im 5'6 and the dip of the bag at the zipper comes perfectly at my hip. it is thin but i do like it i am debating of putting something else in just so it dosnt cause to much stress on the actual bag. it is very roomy. i like how its one pocket and one zipper pocket inside. to many makes the bag sag to me. for the pocket one i used a iphone 6 for size and i didnt put it in all the way just to show how big it is. even with it not in there was still a inch if depth left. i really love how it isnt big or wide. i like how it just rests on your side and is flat. i an going to ... full review
^ Tasmanian-born Davis was in her early 40s when she played Phryne Fisher, though the heroine of the books was only as old as the century (28 in 1928). Other recent examples of the 1920s style bob have included Gemma Arterton in St. Trinian's (2007) and Michelle Dockery as Lady Mary Crawley in the 5th series of ITV's Downton Abbey (2014), the latter set in 1924.
Bohemian style is about expressing yourself and feeling comfortable in what you wear. While modern life may try to dictate that men wear pants pretty much everywhere but the beach, bohemians break the mould and embrace shorts. Their free-spirited lifestyle is reflected in the casual garment, as is their relaxed demeanour. True to the expressive nature of bohemian style, patterned shorts are a wardrobe essential for gents looking to pull off this look. Bold botanicals and busy patterns in a short, chino style will be your ticket to keeping this look stylish. If you like a more traditional touch, however, opt for regular chino shorts in a long and loose fit. The exaggerated silhouette will provide the laid-back look you’re after and add some vintage charm.
Incorporating the boho style into your work wardrobe can seem daunting since the very idea of bohemian is to be "different than the norm" and most offices want a professional uniformity from their employees. Fear not! There is still hope for your boho style to shine through. Here are some tips. First and foremost, check your workplace dress code. If it's business formal, we recommend sticking to that at work and using your off time to shine your bohemian beauty. If you have a mostly relaxed workplace then read on!
I’m a sucker for Bohemian style dresses not because I’m a hippie at heart but because I relate to the vibe. Also, being a hippie is directly proportional to boho, but boho is not necessarily hippie. This style blurred all geographical boundaries and welded cultures as far as fashion is concerned. I can go on about this all night! I’ll simply let you go and explore the boho world. Remember to drop a message in the comment section about your favorite boho style piece.
A biographer of Edward Burne-Jones, writing a century after Shaw (Fiona MacCarthy, 2011), has noted that, in 1964, when the influential Biba store was opened in London by Barbara Hulanicki, the "long drooping structureless clothes", though sexier than the dresses portrayed in such Burne-Jones paintings as The Golden Stairs or The Sirens, nevertheless resembled them.[12] The interior of Biba has been described by the biographer of British 20th century designer Laura Ashley as having an atmosphere that "reeked of sex ... [It] was designed to look like a bordello with its scarlet, black and gold plush fitments, but, interestingly, it implied an old-fashioned, Edwardian style of forbidden sex with its feather boas, potted palms, bentwood coat racks and dark lighting"[13] MacCarthy observed also that "the androgynous appearance of Burne-Jones's male figures reflected the sexually ambivalent feeling" of the late 1960s.[14]
Reflecting on the fashion style of "boho-chic" in the early years of the 21st century, the Sunday Times thought it ironic that "fashionable girls wore ruffly floral skirts in the hope of looking bohemian, nomadic, spirited and non-bourgeois", whereas "gypsy girls themselves ... are sexy and delightful precisely because they do not give a hoot for fashion".[1] By contrast, in the late 19th century and first half of the 20th, aspects of Bohemian fashion reflected the lifestyle itself.
